Are the cam towers interchangeable? cam tower 1-2 change place with cam tower 3-4

I have another set that I do not know how they were mounted from the very beginning. I have always put mine in marked plastic bags.

Or is it the cam caps only that must match the markings?

I thought that the cam towers were mounted in a jig and drilled to achieve perfect alignment of the cam into the cam bearings.

I would search very hard for witness marks to find how it was mounted.  Maybe the oil hole(s) on the bottom could give you some guidance?

That said, I think they can be swapped left for right, people replace them and camshafts too - it will just have to seat itself again.

Yah, just one part #, no left or right. Caps should match.  ;D

Thanks for the answer that will make the assembly more relaxed!
I'll try both ways just for sure too see if there is any visible difference how the cam is centered.
