How many of you use the built in auto oiler?
« on: February 09, 2014, 07:23:11 PM »
Recently I discovered that these bikes (cb750k, some atleast) have an auto oiler system built into the shaft holding the front sprocket. I was just wondering how many of you used it or just turned it off. I'm not sure what I had mine set to when the engine was in but I cleaned mine by hand ever few hundred miles anyway. Never really had oil fling or anything but it was never too dry.

Disabled mine. Always had a little drip/mess no matter what I did. Also from what I've read, it's the wrong type of oil for chain anyway.  Just plugged it and oil/clean by hand.

I removed the little drip tray during my rebuild, before that I had plugged it up anyway. I'm not one of the super miler's like ofreen or hondaman that actually need to worry about countershaft spline wear.

I also lube my chain up every couple hundred or after a ton of rain (o-ring tho). That oiler was more useful when the recommendation was still to wet the chain down with regular old 10w30 regularly

I plugged mine up when I put an x-ring chain on my bike.  I honestly though the rear hub on that side was supposed to be black until I wiped it down :P

All mine are off and all have the x-ring chain too. Both the KO's came with a full wrap chain guard...evidence the previous owner did not like the oil fling either.

Only on my two stroke RD350, but for the motor, not the chain.

Are you referring to the leak coming from my oil pump?  It does a good job of lubing the chain on the 550.  ;)

I have the auto oiler just cracked open. Any more than that and the floor looks like I ride an old Triumph.
