CB360 Rolls in Gear
« on: June 13, 2014, 06:19:09 PM »
Hello. I know this isn't the exact place to post this, but given how similar the 350 and 360 are and the generic nature of the question I figured I'd ask.

I have a CB360 that will not kick start. There is little to no resistance when I move the lever, and I can do it by hand. It has kicked freely in the past, though it did not start then for electrical reasons. I had no idea what changed, and then I noticed it rolls while in gear. There is resistance when doing so, but not a lot. I can't get this to change no matter what I do with any or all of the clutch adjustments. I was just in the clutch basket area with the right side case open, so I know the clutch isn't rusted together.

I feel like the clutch issue might be leading to the kicking issue. I searched, but as can sometimes be the case I found a lot of dead-end topics and no answers. Any insight is appreciated.

The clutch is slipping, most likely something you miss-assembled when you were messing with the basket?

+1 on the clutch adjustment, I don't know if it is possible on the 360 but on some bikes it is possible to have the clutch that far out of adjustment, the mechanism can overcentre and lock the clutch in the disengaged position. ;D

Have you had the springs and the pressure plate off? the pressure plate will fit over the spring posts in any of four ways, but will only fit onto the internal splines in one position, I thought there was some sort of mark on the pressure plate, and the centre hub. if it's not on properly the clutch cannot squeeze the clutch plates together, so clutch appears at the lever to be already pulled in and slipping.
