Voltage issues
« on: September 07, 2006, 10:15:25 PM »
Have noticed that when my bike is idling <1400 rpm the headlight is dim, blinkers don't work, and horn doesn't work.  Is this a standard behavior or do I have a voltage problem?  The bike is a 76 750k.

If you know for definite that your battery is good then you have the usual Honda problem. ie. The charging system is not up to scratch. Check all the connectors first for cleanliness and good continuity. Next check each part of the system measures as stated in the manual. Do all this before you start spending money.

I agree, the charging system is marginal, but if all the connections and grounds are clean, it should be adequate. Start at the back and move forward one connection at a time and don't forget the nest in the headlight. It's maybe a two hour job and well worth it. Let us know if it helps.
