First bike, first forum - Shout out from Toronto
« on: February 12, 2014, 10:05:51 AM »
Names Matt, never been on a forum before and never owned an old bike before. I picked up A 78 CB550K last year and have been playing around with it in my spare time since. Started out as what I thought would be a quick refresher, new seat, some rubber and fresh gas, but I am never content to leave well enough alone so a year later it is finally almost where I want it.

I have always been more drawn to old, dirty machines with some character as opposed to a polished piece, so I am going for a minimalistic, ratty brat look. Hopefully this spring it'll see some time on the pavement.

-Matt

Welcome Matt!

Where in Toronto are you?  I live north-east of the city near Uxbridge and know several others from around.  We are just waiting for the big thaw to complete. ;D

Welcome Matt, from Tottenham just north of TO.

Big thaw my ass. I gave up on that and just fled to Galveston, TX while I wait for that to happen!   8)

Thanks everyone. Lots of really good info and knowledgable people here, we've been slow at work so I have had quite a bit of time to browse haha.

I am in the Beaches, just east of the downtown core. The way it's seeming as of late we aren't getting a thaw anytime soon haha.

Oh so you're going to start THAT argument are you Bob? He said he lives north of Kew beach, so "Beach" is correct, BUT there are multiple named beaches along that stretch of shoreline, so.....
forget it, welcome aboard Matt, nice looking shop you got to work in!

Not to highjack Matt's thread here Cb750k7, but you should introduce yourself in a new thread topic, and maybe elaborate on your bike, (year, model) and what sort of work or tune-up you've already performed.  There are lots of experienced people here who will likely be able to offer advise.
