Spoked rims
« on: February 13, 2014, 11:27:41 AM »
So im going crazy here. Ive got a 1979 cb650 with spoked rims. Unfortunately the owner before me dented up the front rim so now i need a new one. Ive scoured ebay and craigslist looking for one with no luck. My question is this; do any models have a similar front rim that I can use on my 650? The rotor and hub have 5 bolt points unlike the majority of other models Ive looked at that have 6. Can anybody help me with this im loosing my mind.  :o

Is it a 40 spoke unit? Im sure it is. I have a complete front wheel assembly minus brake rotors I am willing to get rid of. Off of a 1978 CB550.
I do tasks the most difficult way. My life is interesting.

The 79 CB650 came stock with the reverse comstar wheel. The wire wheel would be a modification by a PO.

If you are looking to keep the hub. You can lace on a new rim from the following models. Still available from honda.
44701-405-771 RIM, FR. WHEEL
1976 CB500T
1976-77 CB550F
1976-78 CB550K
1976 CB750F
1976-82 CB750K
1980-82 CB650

If you are looking for a bolt on replacement wheel. The 5 bolt hub was used on the following.
44601-425-670 HUB, FR. WHEEL

The 79 and up DOHC cb750 & cb900 wheels are a bolt on to the cb650, DOHC cb750's have a five bolt rotor and some models came with spokes. I spent the time cross referencing the hubs, axles, brake discs etc etc trying to find a bolt on option for my wife's cb650c. It came with reverse comstars which are hideous in my eyes, managed to find a donor cb750 roller with decent wire wheels which solved my problem.
