Stainless pipes will discolor with either inconsistent heat or grease/oil on the pipe. Coating the pipes will prevent that. But raw SS is sensitive. And once it turns, it's permanent.

loud engine noise is loud engine noise stevo-o,i guess thats what sells and thats what the cafe racer scene is all about these days?

I'll admit it, I like a nice healthy sounding engine, not open pipe loud though. You ever hear a '77 CB550 with stock exhaust? Hate it!

Yep, this is the first thing I did when I got my Motad. The hole is now as big as I can get it. Still too quiet though.

 Here's a video of Carpy's pipe:

STF bike cold start up video

 Pros:
 -Affordable
 -Cool looking
-Sounds great....people commented on it all the time.
 -Good for the price.

 Cons:
 - Not as well made as the MotoWorks pipe. Some ugly welds, etc.
 -No center stand.
 -LOUD
-Have to remove it to change oil filter.

Mine fit fine and I liked it. I'd buy another for the right bike/project. I didn't have a front fender, so I can't comment on clearance issues.

the four to four in its day was impresssive visuallay, but we soon cottoned on it was #$%*,and heavy, not two minutes after these bikes hit the show rooms a lighter 4-1 was available,i aint seen a 4-4 system ever since?why the #$%* would you?four to one is the only way, four to two nets two frog #$%*s more power but at a heavier burdon?(debateable)so any four to one has to be better?these are old bikes now, and most of the four-fours are long gone(thank #$%*)if your running a four to one use as long muffler as your noise ego will tolerate.

Love the sound of this pipe. Are any welds really bad or just a bit ugly?

If BOTH matter equally, buy the MotoGP. The quality, fit and sound are best. Tucks in tight, easily removed with springs, not nuts. Fully stainless.

Does MotoGPwerks actually make a pipe or just sell other companies products? I don't see headers listed on their site.

I was this *close* to ordering one for my 550 last week, now he is sold out.
Thing is, I don't really need one and I like the 550F header I have.

They apparently make them in house now after buying out another company. Most guys order by phone or on ebay...

If you have the spring loaded pipes its simple and takes little time, I thought we wrenched on bikes here.... You could also get a spin on filter....

I have carpys black ceramic coated 4-1 on my cb550k. I bobbed the fromt fender way down- mostly to keep it in place as a fork brace.  I have raised the forks about an inch in the trees to quicken handling and am running progressive suspension springs in them.  I drained the fork oil to check this rumor-- completely bottoming the shocks.  Even at this super Xtreme position (fork springs sticking out in the air) there is clearance.

I see you didn't factor in fork flex under brakes, thats when they hit and will bite your ass big time, thats exactly when they hit the wheel/guard of the guy on the forum that first reported it.... If you think you have miles of clearance, I had a friend that crashed a well set up Mach2 750 Kawasaki exactly the same way with stock pipes and suspension, just better brakes, those old spaghetti forks flex quite a lot when braking.....

If they make pipes for our 550 and 750 bikes that bends around the filter, they will definitely earn some respect from a nobody like myself.

The point of my argument is that, if your design is great, why have the obvious flaw?

And all of that hype about product not available until next spring, next summer, etc. please give me a break.  Simply because he's relying on manufactures as he's only a middle man

Maybe you should ask Yoshimura, these pipes are a copy. I spoke to Chris a litttle while ago, as i posted earlier, the pipes are now being made in house. He was the original guy that had them made in the first place, he worked for Yoshimura....

Quote from his ebay listings
