OK Guys and Gals, what is the difference between a K1, K2, K3 etc? Can it be determined by the Vin#. Also , does anyone know why the Vin# and the eng Ser.# are always off by a couple of digits? .

The VIN numbers ID the various K models, which sort of track by year also. You can see the differences in VIN numbers at the SOHC4 Owners site (www.sohc4.net), under the 750 model, then specifications. As I have always understood the VIN engine number differences, they came off different production lines and the differences generally ran from a few to a couple of hundred. Could be explained by spare engine production, warranty engine replacements, etc.

More explained by engine failures on testing, which was after the number was stamped
