Early 750k single disc on front of 550K0
« on: February 17, 2014, 08:19:00 PM »
I notice the stock 550K rotor is smaller, and has less pad contact area on both the rotor and pads, as compared to the 750k. both my bikes (550 and 750) Have code 341 stamped on the inners of both fork sliders, which indicates they are a 750 part(?)
I wonder if that would make a 750 to 550 brake swap possible? Not a dual disk conversion, just a single stock, bigger, and more powerful brake for the 550.
Are 550 and 750 master cyls. the same? Seems like 750 (341) sliders would take
750 brakes, which I have spares of. Anybody ever noticed/tried it? It aint a dual
set up, but it ought to be lighter than one, but more powerful than the o.e. 550 brake, and there wouldn't be master cyl. capacity issues. I think the 550 front wheel is the same as
the 750 too. would this set up affect handling in any way?........opinions?

Do they have the same amount of mounting holes? That is the first thing to check

Yep it works just fine, it bolted staight on my 550F with no modifications needed(My caliper still had it's metal brake pipe on it), and I think does perform a little better than the smaller disc. :)
