Just Found This Out About About my GPZ1100, Yesterday
« on: February 17, 2014, 01:10:46 PM »

First, let me say that, when I had to vacate my home in Greenwood, Arkansas, as I had moved and still was in the process of getting my things out of there. I had some issues, because I was already in Georgia and was coming back, as I could, to clear out 30 soimething years of accumulation out of that house. Next thing I knew, I had to get myself in gear and get with it. I have some VERY close friends who jumped in and worked their tails off and got everything thing out, that I wanted. What I am getting at is one of those close friends, took my motorcycles, parts and other things to his place and did alot, while I wasn't even there. So yesterday, I went to Fort Smith, just to touch base with him, as I hadn't seen him since for a few months and wanted to see how it was going and plan getting upi there and getting my things out of his way. While I was there, he informed me that he had access to GPZ that was being parted and he picked up a complete set of bodywork, including another gas tank and put it with my things. I was amazed! We had always been on great terms, helping each other, as we needed it and all. But, THIS was something I never even dreamed would happen. And the thing is, I hjadn't told him, but I had wanted to get those extra parts, so I could change color and yet still have the original stored away. I didn't
think I had mentioned it to him and when I asked him, he confirmed that I hadn't. Now, Hpw Cool is THAT?  AND, he is the one who came up with a set of carbs, so my GPZ could be converted over to carburetors. Another close friend has my '69 GTX, '85 Shelby Charger, Dad's '92 Dakota and my '92 Project Dakota. And, I am working on getting all of that home (about 1 1/2 hrs away, which is alot better than 600 miles away). So, after I get the SL350 squared away, the '83 GPZ1100 just very well could be my next project in line for attention.

Now, I just have to decide what color(s).  Got plenty of time, to decide. I was thinking black with some kind of mild accent graphics (just enough to set it off, you know? Comments anyone? :-\ My Buddy was thinking Silver with accents.

I agree and to be honest, I am not a fan of regular "Clip-On" Handlebars and wasn't sure how I would react to having a bike with those type of bars. But, I road this '83 GPZ and bought it. Really has a Great Feel to it, IMHO.  ;)

Hadn't thought of that. :-[ You would have to bring that up, huh?  ::)  Curious if he  was serious or not. Would look pretty cool and He will most likely be doing the painting.   ;)
