On the market again
« on: February 18, 2014, 01:52:05 PM »
Hey guys,

Some of you may remember that I thought about selling my CB750 last year but decided that I could not part with it.  Well, now I guess that I need to sell it.  My wife told me that she is unhappy in our marriage and we agreed to get divorced.  So now I have some new priorities to focus on and that means my bikes (two) have to go.  I have a buyer for my BMW and now I am looking for one for the CB.

Sparty,

Sorry to hear that on both counts. I'll keep my fingers crossed that things go easily for you.

Surely we can find your bike a great home on here. I'll give a good reference for you but your bike stands on it's own!  ;)

Thanks Jerry.  Luckily, my wife and I don't hate each other, just kind of grew apart if that is possible after 15 years.  We don't have children, which makes this much easier.  The bike will sell with a bunch of original parts as well, manuals, tools, all things related.

Not the response I expected from you, Jerry.  Yes, divorces are unfortunate, but not reason for sale of bikes.  Jerry's bike has been through 3!

Sucks about the divorce Sparty but it sounds like you're dealing with it and not letting it get nasty. I hope you don't wanna kick yourself in the a$$ later for unloading your bike. Do what ya gotta do man!!

I have to sell it for two reasons, need some cash and the place I will be buying has no garage.  The option to keep it or store it doesn't exist.  Sad I know but memories last a lifetime... until you go senile.   ;D

A CB750 is a ticket to this friendly forum ;D

I'm sure that this interest is even more important after a divorce. Use the bike and visit biker meetings, fairs where you can find an new partner with similar interests.

I'm very happy today that I never sold my CB750 that I found January 1979, used until sept 1990. It was resting in 2 different barns during 19 years not used at all. Brought it home 2009 when I made space in my garage, opened engine 2010, starting to purchase various parts 2011 still ongoing ($$$), assembled the engine april 2012, all together a few months later. Now a new project taking apart again. (Head off). Bike must be on the streets again end of April this year).

During this time I have read a lot of interesting threads here and enjoyed the forums here. I wish to be able to find another CB750, a K0. Plus another engine project (900/915cc) when I have some parts.

Art,

Consider it as THE best form of therapy! Riding OR wrenching is a great way to clear the head. Just don't wrench if you're highly pissed off as bad things can happen to your bike  ;)

Last year I purchased a new KTM 1190 Adventure and have been riding it everywhere.  My 1972 Honda CB750 has been in storage since and really deserves a new home.  So, I am going to put it on the market again.  Will likely need new tires to be safe.  They are over 6 years old now.  I have lots of original parts in boxes, manuals, etc.  Everything goes with the bike.  Tested the battery today and it is going to have to be replaced.  It will also need an oil change since it has been sitting.  Honestly I can't see myself riding it anymore.  There is a picture in this thread.  MRieck built the engine for me so you know that it is a performer.  If you are interested, you will need to pick it up.  I wouldn't ride it with the old tires and tubes.

I can email you information of you are interested in seeing what went into the build.

You might get more if selling bike in stock version?
Trade the engine and exhaust, you'll get a stock engine in good shape with good 4-4, centerstand plus  around $3k. Sell bike as a good stocker for $7k? I'm not sure about the numbers,  what people can see as a good trade and pay for it...

I have 2 already Frank LOL

Pops, you're scaring the #$%* outta me. Your cat is 23? That fukr of mine is ONLY 14 and I was counting his days already thinking of my freedom but he's worth a lot more than your's. If you play your cards right you don't need to show "them" green, just show them the DOOR.  ;)

If anyone else is looking in, $5000 is a BARGAIN for everything Art has done to his bike!!!! It probably cost him 3 times that to build it his way.
