DIY
« on: September 08, 2006, 11:15:47 AM »
There should be a DIY section on this forum.  I have been reseaching how to make the clutch hub spanner out of a spare socket, still not sure what size socket would work.  I know where to buy one online but It would be nice to have one now.

It would be nice to have a section in this forum for not only DIY tools but also for advice on putting stuff from different bikes onto your CB like forks, swingarms, handlebar controls and master cylinders, etc...

The Haynes manual for the CB750 showed how to make a socket for removing the special clutch nut. I don't have a copy to scan, though..

Fourthed. It could include tricky procedures and tips to get round problems that don't fit into other FAQ sections easily.
On related point is there a way of putting JohnK6's budget 750 fix-up thread somewhere so it won't get get lost?

I used a 15/16 socket for my 650, it worked a treat. 1" might work as well

There should be a section primarily for bike cross-breeding. Possibly a subsection under the DIY section. One subsection for DIY parts, and one subsection for crossbreeding. The above example of making a spanner would obviously be in the tools section, while the crossbreeding section would contain such subjects as installing a 550 alternator on a 650 or installing an '84 CB650 oil cooler on an earlier model. The posts shouldn't be questions, but more of a how-to approach. Ask the questions in the Tech section, and then make step-by-step instructions in the new sections.

Yeah, that is a great idea... I think it'll probably happen once a moderator hears about this
