If it's complete and original and in good to excellent shape you can't lose. Any 'real' replica bike (Phil Read, Mike Hailwood etc etc) seems to be going up in value faster than the bike they are based on.

I tend to get the British bike mags religiously. There've been two or three pretty nice Phil Read reps advertised in the last six months, average price around 5,000 pounds.

How do you get the "pound" sign to come up anyway? Maybe you need a British keyboard. Preferably not made by Lucas. ;D

Cheat like I did, use the character map under Accessaries if you have Windows. £ I think there is an Alt-key combination, but off the top of my head I don't know it.

150 Phil Read Replicas were prepared by Colin Seeley for Honda as a special run, so they are rare.

The number of 150 doesn't seem correct though. There was one more prepaired, but it was slightly different from the others:

Our keyboards have £ (shift 3), $ (shift 4) and € (ctrl-alt 4)

How's that for international?

The bike was in good condition but the exhaust (although a black 4-1 and of a similar shape) doesn't have that short horizontal section on the end.

The signature on the fairing is only a sticker.

Awaiting feedback from the guys on www.honda-sohc.co.uk as i know there are 4/5 PRR owners on there.

How come the CB650 isn't a part of the honda-sohc UK forum list?

Maybe I should.
I was just curious, and I thought you might know since you are a member.

Btw, I noticed there was no forum for the 350 and the 500 either.

They tend to be generic

350/400

500/550

Agree in the ommission of the 650 though.

I tend to get the British bike mags religiously. There've been two or three pretty nice Phil Read reps advertised in the last six months, average price around 5,000 pounds.

£5k? Blimey. Neither of these two got much interest at all.

For £5k I'd expect a very nice Seeley. It might be worth giving Bonhams a call to see what they've got in the Stafford sale next month, Phil Read Reps seem to come up quite a bit.

Admittedly, some of the ones I've seen in the British bike mags have been there for maybe six months. "Price reduced!" is starting to figure prominently. IMO, they're pretty damn ugly, so that didn't surprise me, but to each their own, eh? 8)

http://www.honda-sohc.co.uk/index.php?set_albumName=album05&id=phil_read&option=com_gallery&Itemid=&include=view_photo.php

Oh, and 650 owners, you now have a spot in the honda-sohc.co.uk forum too, I just don't know anyone who owns one.

Yes that's James Turner's. He had it on eBay earlier this year.

£1320 did not meet reserve.

I emailed James and he's looking for £3300

Eamon bought a lovely unrestored example on Friday (with original exhaust) for £1500.

That's more like it I think.
