Custom Length Tach Cable
« on: February 22, 2014, 05:10:16 AM »
Has anybody found a universal/adjustable/cuttable tach cable?

I need one in the 17" range. For my 750.

Any old school Speedometer repair shop should be able to fix you up. They can usually do custom tach and speedometer cables very reasonably. A cable from another Honda model may fit as well.

Thanks. Motion Pro looks easy. I'll look around for a gauge shop, a dying breed I suspect.

I bought a custom length cable last year. No problems.
Chopper builders do it all the time.

I remember that we used to be able to buy a "universal" speedometer cable. I don't know if anyone makes them anymore.

Interesting. Was it like 30" long and you just coil up what you don't need?

There's a Motion Pro universal speedo kit floating around. Looks like it might work.

I'm kinda wondering if one could shorten the housing and cut the end off the wire and weld it back on...

Here's a bit about using the speedo kit.
