Starting to get a little desperate in my search for an under-400cc street bike for under $500 (see $500 Challsenge thread). Is it difficult to add a headlight and tail light to, say, an KX250?

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Aside from some custom wiring and electrical add-ons, the most critical issue the generator/alternator/stator. Many dirt bikes don't have the electrical system as standard to supply running voltage to support running headlight.

A bit trickier than you think...

If I'm wrong, an electrical expert will chime in to provide guidance otherwise.

Perhaps something like a DT250/400 would be a better choice, all the wiring's there to start with.

A lot of used dirt bikes used to be enduro style that someone took all that stuff off of, to make it more dirt bikey. One of those would be easy (?) to make street legal again, but the ones that didn't come with it would be a lot more difficult to set up.

Thanks fellas - that's what I thought.
