You could post this in regular tech section. Just remove what is in there and thread in a "normal" fitting so any grease gun will work. Much more economical

The original fitting is NOT a zerk fitting . I have the same fittings on steering damper joints , only smaller . This is what I am referring to . They are too small to change out . Any help

We already told you that. Take it out and tap for a real fitting.

In the mean time post in a real section

"I have about 40 of these to grease"
You have 40 swingarms? :o :o :o :o
@ bj I have to admit I don't know what you mean by a " real section"? The correct form maybe?

"How do you get the chips from drilling and tapping out of a sealed fitting ?"
It has to be taken apart any way to clean it up and get the 30 year old dried up grease out and put in new bushings.

@  luckysox Take the swingarms all 40 of them and strip them down. Drill and tap for new standard US zerks. Grease it up and put back together and from then on you can use a standard grease gun. Got it. :)

Are you going into the swingarm rebuilding business like Hondaman?

The posting has been in wtb section for a while, that is what I meant by move it. I could have ignored the post totally like plenty did, I was hoping a mod would move it.

Luckysox, what I said to do is what 750k8 said, and what we will all say. Take the oddball jap grease fitting out and replace with a standard US.

That jap grease fitting is obscure, haven't heard of anyone actually sourcing the fitting

Just buy one of the needle tips and stick it in the middle of the old one.

The post was in the wrong section for a total of 8 days before you ranted for it to be moved . The fittings are on steering dampers  but are the same as the swingarm fitting only about have the size . There is NO way too take them apart to clean out chips .    Thanks Fatlip for at least a reasonable suggestion

This is all you need to use the stock zerks. No need to replace them, just use the right grease gun!

Wow....I did not realize there was a "right" grease gun.  I have been pumping grease into mine with a regular old grease gun with a flex hose for years.  I just hold it on the fitting real tight and pump.

OEM Honda zerks, right?

Congratulations on having such strong fingers, but I think you're in the minority! I think the main reason most folks replace their stock zerks is because they can't get their flex hoses to work on the originals. The rigid pipe helps hold the nozzle firmly against the OEM zerk.

In fact, most grease guns come with both a flex hose and rigid pipe extension. Even you may benefit from fitting the rigid pipe!  :D

I gots me them strong fingers LOL.  But I have a rigid pipe, a pneumatic gun that I seldom use and even an old mini grease gun that you can hit with a hammer if you want too....just have never needed them.

That is the type most often used on a chain saw.

Is there a way to prep the nipple, by prudently sticking a thin pin in its hole and move it a bit?
