Lived a few years up on Summit & Republican.
A fun area to be in during college.

Alright guys, in the process of putting everything back together the cam chain slid off the sprocket on the crank, anybody know of any good tricks to get it back on the sprocket without having to completely disassemble... again. Was trying to fish the chain back on and turn the crank to get it to catch, is that the only other way?

In other news, looks like all the old puck seals were good, looks to me like the cylinder head gasket was the culprit. The corner of the gasket that looked like it wasn't seated properly is the same corner that was leaking. In any case I've got all fresh gaskets and seals from the cylinder base up so that should take care of that *knock on wood*.

Seal those pucks! (permatex#2 or Hylomar blue)
Goop the recess they sit in.  squish them in, and clean up the excess goop so the cam towers can seat all the way down.
An ounce of prevention...  ;)

Shouldn't be any problem fitting the cam chain over the crank sprocket.

Don't be tight when it comes to the pucks. It'll save you later. Buy new ones from Honda. You'll see the difference in fresh new pliable one vs old heat hardened ones. I used my Threebond 1104 case sealer to seal them in place. Had to go back in and this stuff REALLY sealed them well. I had to use a pick to get them started and use some force to peel them out.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Puck seals were replaced with OEM Honda puck seals, I've got some permatex laying around I can throw on them as well. I just need to get this cam chain back on the crank, I'm to the point of what you see in the photo so it's being a pain in my bottom end  :P to get the crank sprocket to catch the cam chain. Do I really have to take everything apart to get it back on or should I just keep trying to get it to grab on to the chain?

keep trying!  Wedge something up under the front case to lift the cylinders perfectly vertical.  Take your cam chain adjuster off, and hook the plate the adjuster presses against and pull it aft, so the rollers are not pressing on the chain.
This might allow the front cam chain to 'hang' down the tunnel instead of fall against the front chain guide so you can loop it on more easily...
