Well! Now I did it!!
« on: February 28, 2014, 12:42:53 PM »

Placed my order for a new 2014 CB1100DLX today! Hopefully arrives end of March early April. Can hardly wait, I feel like a kid in a candy store. It will nicely compliment my K6!

I rode one last year and was wowwed by the engine, a fine choice.  I will have to wait a little longer to afford one as they are pricier north of the border.  Enjoy this summer & post pics & a review!

As stated above, I feel like a kid at Christmas time, and it will be a tough wait. I joined the CB1100 forum back in September and was reading about how a lot of the guys were happy just paying MSRP at ($11,899.00) because apparently most dealers wouldn't cut deals. I stopped in the dealer at Terre Haute, Indiana last week and besides not looking me in the face, (he kept staring at the floor) he wouldn't back off the MSRP.

So, I waited till I got back home and walked into my local dealer today as nervous as a whore in church, not expecting much, and asked him for his out the door price. Well, he disappeared in the back for awhile, came back and said $12,300.00! I balked, (remember, I said I was nervous?) thinking he was charging me $400.00 over the MSRP for just the bike alone. Started to tell him that the other dealer was quoting me MSRP and he gave me a blank stare like, what kind of an idiot are you? OTD price including everything, TTL!! Duh, could've kicked myself in the ass if I could kick that high! He gave me $700.00 off MSRP, I shook his hand and asked where do I sign?  ;D

Don't worry guys, I'm not getting rid of the K6. And it will still see the streets. Having a modern bike will allow me to tear the K6 apart every so often and get it on track for restoration.

Oh now if it would only hurry up and get here!!

Cheers!

damfino, you stirred me to stop by the local Honda dealer on my way back from the vintage bike show.  They have a 2013 model that is 11000 out the door, it is tempting but................?????????? ...Larry

They got one in Manassas, almost missed it between all the cruisers.

I would have one if I could - there are three kids, from now on every two years one will go to college, I will have to sell my kidney to cover that :) - but only as one of the herd.  Just the idea of having one motorcycle that needs only oil change and slight polish; I would miss the wrenching I am sure.

Problem is.....................................................I am cheap.  I only spent that much on a car once.  Car budget is no more than 3000, when it blows I by another, usually get 2 to 3 years of more out of a vehicle.  Motorcycle budget is 1000, went over that though several times, 2500 for the PC, same for a Yamaha Seca back in the 80s,  1200 for two 400 fours and 1000 for the Interceptor. But................................................it is tempting...Larry

But it does make me look more aggressively for a CB900 or 1100F.  To me, they were the cat's pajamas when they came out in the 80s 8) ;).  I would trade one of my 750s for either model, probably have to toss in some cash tho...Larry
