CB750 Ignition Harness Question
« on: February 28, 2014, 08:59:04 AM »
I'm working on installing my Dyna S ignition on my '74 CB750 and am having trouble finding where to disconnect the old harness/connect the new Dyna S.

My bike has been altered a little by the previous owner, so I'm not sure if he changed the wiring, but at the points plate the wires look stock.

I've searched a good amount online and can't seem to find a picture or video of where it clips in. Does anyone have a photo to show me where this is?

Thanks!!!

If you are looking for where the points wires go there is a splice just behind or close to the rear brake sw. hard to see but it is there may be tucked behind the frame rail at that brake sw.. Two bullet connectors.

Maybe I just missed it. I'll keep searching back there and see what I can find.

On the right side of the bike near the rear brake switch or just above it.
Look at your wiring diagram in the Clymer's manual.

There are wires that go from the coils back to just underneath the seat area
and down to the brake light switch.

Follow the points wire that goes to the points, has the white sheath on it .

After some digging around right behind the rear brake light switch I uncovered some electrical tape and shrink wrapping and found the wires crimped together with a red connector. I'm assuming this isn't stock.

I guess I'm going to have to cut the wires off, find another bullet connector to attach to the original wires, or solder the new wires together.

I would put the bullets back on. Don't be another PO hacker. This is the best place I have found for all you will need. There crimper works the best of all the 5 or 6 pairs I have for these connectors.

You need to go from head to tail and clean or replace every connector no telling what that po did.
