Valve and Valve guide question
« on: February 26, 2014, 01:39:35 PM »
I have a 1978 CB750k and I am trying to replace my valves,valve springs and valve guides.
 I am having trouble finding Valve train components for this year model that arent super expensive.
I was wondering if anyone knows where i can find them for a decent price.  Also is it possible to use valves/valve guides for the 69-76 models?  is there any difference?

good luck  ::)
You're looking at $300+ right there in parts, not to mention valve seals, valve grind labor, and any other head work you decide to have done.

Well I wouldnt consider $300 to be outrageously expensive. I did find valve springs that are compatible with all the K models for $90.  I just havent seen valves that say they work with the 77-78's that arent 40-50  or more per valve.
Im just wondering whats the difference in the 69-76 cb750k's compared to the 77-78's?

77/78K and F2/3 valves have different part #'s, and isn't the valve keeper config a little different?

You might also ping MRieck about this. He appears to be omniscient with these motors/valve trains and their supplies. Especially the heads.

Thanks 70cb750, that pic was super helpful. I went ahead and bought a set of valves off eBay from an older model so I can use the valve keepers and retainers.  Much cheaper than the titanium conversion kits most places are trying to peddle.  Thanks fellas.

That is good info. unfortunately, does not however, include cam info, which also differs, model to model, year to year.
