The Play's the thing
« on: August 10, 2014, 06:34:10 PM »

Hello from Stratford.  I am not really into Shakespeare much, even with world class theatre in town, but the quote seems appropriate for this forum - all wanting to play with their bikes!

I thought I should intro, again, actually did back in 2009, but got lost along the way.  Re-connecting with this forum, lurking, reading, learning tons!

Thought all was lost, but now I'm saved - I just dug out my 350F1 from the corner of the garage after almost 20 years.  Shook off the guilt, and washer her up with some purple simple green (thanks forum) and feel much better thanks.

Rusty, but I'm looking forward to trying the methods read about on this forum to clean up and get it running.  Then putter away at it and keep it alive from now on.

guess this is boring or something,   I can't even get hello

maybe I should have said I was thinking of steam punking it to meet a few people on here - where all the attention is at.

There a few hours of my life I won't get back, 23 pages - sheesh

Returning the favour for a Fellow Canuck and Ontarian!

Just curious , when you had your 350 running, how fast would it go? Was it peppy off the line?

I remember seeing the occasional 350-4 back in the day. Best of luck getting her upon running!

Thanks Peter

How fast? Well I remember riding around town with friends, one 750 Honda and a Kawi triple and the little 350 would get ahead of them in the corners but get behind on any amount of straight road very quickly. Off the line I always felt like I wasn't getting all the performance out of it that I should be, which might have been the case, but more likely it tells you the reality of this bike is it is kind of slow off the line. The engine is beautifully smooth and winds up to high RPM where most of the power can be found.  And it sounds way better than any twin of similar size IMO.

Hey Tex

No battery or carbs pulled yet. I'm hesitant to get into pulling things apart until I can commit the time to keep going.
I peeked inside the oil dipstick hole and am very happy with the like new appearance of the innards I can see. The scabby chrome actually cleans up where I tested a couple of spots - fender, Jardines. The seat isn't perfect but no big splits and seems soft still.
I was reading carb rebuild threads to prepare. And have been thinking about making a list of      things needed so to keep an eye out. Tnks for asking. Brian
