75 - 78 CB750F grab bars
« on: March 02, 2014, 12:10:23 PM »
I've searched and tried to reference the part numbers but come up short. I'm trying to get a clean set of grab bars for my 77 CB750F project. I see that the 75 and 76 had very similar style and look, but something tells me there is a difference. Just wondering if anyone could tell me if the grab bars/rails from a 75/76 would fit on a 77/78 CB750F and still use all the fender, seat, etc. for the 77/78.

IIRC none of those years had a separate grab bar on the left, but had the wrap around bumper bar. The 75-76 are the same and the 77-78 are the same but different than the 75-76 bars. I know the frame changed in 77 and was the same in 78.

I used the term "grab bar" but was meaning the rear wrap around bumper bar. Looking at the schematics and or parts fish, they do have different part numbers. For 75-76 it was the same and 77-78 was the same. They just look the same for 75 through 78. If the frame changed I'm thinking the early version may have been shorter? Just wanted to know if anyone could confirm. I know the inner fender and storage box have a lot of the same number and parts for all years. The very rear fender did change. I have read that sometimes they changed part numbers only because there were some major changes in the next year of bike but in fact the parts were the same. Still hoping someone might be able to help or confirm.

I'd be real surprised to find an identical part from one year changed part numbers for the next year because of other changes to the bike.

The difference is in the tail light/fender mount. Really hard to find a really nice one. Expect mild rusting/corrosion especially around the tail light/fender mouint. Shouldn't be a problem with either for the inner fender mounting.
