Hi Guys

The fork works just fine:) Was out riding today, and if weather is warm it is just right. When cold as it often is up here it is a bit slow on the rebound... So will go for thinner fork oil. You may all be right but in my case the welding seems to be OK..

Will report when thinner oil is tested but does not bother me to much so might be not be done til after riding season..
will now just enjoy the bike

About welding aluminum without distortion......submerge the item in water except the area to be welded or run a slow stream of water everywhere except where the welding has to be done. I've never done this, but have heard of this process.

You want the whole piece to be the same temp, if just the weld area is hot it will expand where your welding is and shrink when cooled..... This will cause massive distortion.
These legs are cast because it's cheaper.

Fun reading. I really should be focusing on my physics studies, but this is fueling my new addiction.
First post on this forum by the way.
I noticed the excellent soldering craftmanship done to your oil cooler tubing

Bout time you got rid of that other junk that is clogging up your garage space, and getting around to get those last bits and pieces done in time for the season.

Will start working on the bike again when done with the Model A , Me and Halvar have been burning the midnight oil on that project this winter .. Hope to see your project on the forum soon?

Hi:) All is well, a lot of snow but other than that fine

Have been working hard on a Ford Pheathon hot rod project this winter so the bike has been in storage elsewhere.. Will start working on it again when done with the car

Well, not much of a project yet.
I am sitting in my hotel room in Trondheim and sourcing out some parts for that engine I hauled out of your garage the other day. I have ordered carbs, and am bidding on ignition parts. I belive I need to order a top end gasket kit, because I think I need to "off with the head". I suspect that the valves needs to be lapped.
If I get a deal on that 550 this weekend I might just start a thread when I start building.

I would just start the engine when gathered the parts missing and see what it sounds like. Then order a top end kit if it sound bad

All the valves was farting when I inspected them, but I will give it a go.

As a former driver of old british motorcycles/farming equipment I also need to go trough a personal transition before taking on this task. To start with, I am actually eating sushi as I am writing this

Any Update on the svingarm ? This is a really interesting idea and I think a want to copy it

I wondering if you wanna have oil in the boxed tube on the svingarm or only in the welded tank in the middle ?

Are you sure the oilpump will be fed enough when the oil tank is placed so low ? And what about the breather hose, when the oil is pump back in the tank wouldn't is just fill the tank up and press the oil out of the breather hose ??

Just a few concern to your design I hope you will correct me about
