More bad news, Peter Brock killed today..............
« on: September 07, 2006, 11:04:05 PM »
Incredibly, only days after the tragic deathof Steve Irwin, Australia's most successfull racing car driver, Peter Brock, was killed today, while competing in a racing event in Western Australia.

While "Brocky" isn't as well known outside Australia as Steve Irwin, here in Oz he is/was considered a living legend.

They say things happen in threes, if I was an Aussie celebrity I'd be worried...............  :'(
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

That's right Loco, poor Barry Sheene died a horrible lingering death from cancer, whereas "Brocky" died doing what he did best, so I guess Brocky went out the way he would have preferred. "Better to burn out, than fade away"  :'(

Brocky's passenger, Mick Hone, was a famous Aussie motorcycle racer from the 1970's, and now a successful Suzuki Dealer. Luckily Mick survived, as Brocky took most of the impact on the drivers side of the car. Cheers, Terry. :'(

I knew about Brock and that's a damn shame he died.

I remember a few years ago Bob Wollek died.  He was a famous Porsche racer who was in the twilight of his career and wanted a Le Mans win more than anything.  Got creamed by a van's passenger-side rearview mirror while riding his bicycle at Sebring.  What a way for a racer to go.  At least Brock went with his boots on.  :( :'(

Around here, you are an Aussie celebrity  :o

Maybe #3 won't be someone you'd miss so much - what's Paul Hogan doing these days?  In all seriousness, sad to hear about Peter - but, at least Steve and Peter both went doing what they loved.  We should all be so lucky.

It is sad, you just never know when the time's gonna come. Look at the wreck the took Dale Earnhart. It didn't seem all that bad compared to others. Back in about 78', I saw a Nascar race where they were getting used to the slightly smaller cars and Richard Petty crashed his car in a way that just completely demolished the car and he came out with a badly sprained ankle! I mean, his car was flipping and flopping and there probably wasn't an inch of that car that wasn't damaged. You just never know.
But, no matter, it's still a shame that they all couldn't have lived longer to further enjoy their families and doing what they loved to do.                                RIP

Ok, now here's a weird "coincidence" my son told me about yesterday, as you know Steve Irwin and Peter Brock died 4 day apart, well apparently, their birthdays are also 4 days apart! How's that for spooky? :o

Poor old "Hoges" has enough problems right now, the IRS is chasing him for millions of bucks that he "forgot" to declare from his films, the good thing is that while he's in hiding, he won't be making any more of those god-awful movies, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Geez Scunny, God could have taken Mark Skaife, I wouldn't have missed him half as much as Brocky! :'(
