I am at a loss to understand whats up with an antique tag.  The tag costs more than a regular tag and is just decoration with the same rights as a regular tag. I run an antique tag on my 77 550F.  I also have Hagerty and a stated value of $5000.00.  I used the breakdown insurance 3 months after I got the policy without any questions.

You only pay for the antique tag once, not every year like a regular tag.the state has to recoup their money somehow

In NC an antique motorcycle tag must be renewed every year.

Michigan is also a one shot deal on the antique plate-yes no tag- but the rules stipulate that technically you must be riding it to a show or event etc.,not everyday commuting.

I pay $70 something a year for liability on a CB400f through Foremost.

That's about three times what I pay with Liberty Mutual. Are you under 25?

How much was the addition of the bike to your car premium?

Well I don't know because it was more of a reduction in costs. My 2006 ducati was roughly $1100 (full coverage) a year with dariyland when my cars were with Geico. This is New York City pricing and I have a completely clean driving record with no accidents or tickets for over 10 years. Progressive was quoting me roughly $845 (Full coverage) a year, and I don't think I was getting a better rate from GMAC or Hanover. However Geico was $580 a year because of their existing customer discount. At the time the bike was still financed so it had to be insured for full coverage. When I moved to Ohio it dropped slightly to just over $500 a year full coverage. Why didn't it get cheaper when I moved? state insurance classifications. In NY the bike was considered a standard since at the time it was new and they just lumped it in the same category as the monsters. In ohio the bike is classified a sport bike, because frankly it is one (full racer tuck and extremely favorable power to weight ratio).

So how much did it add to my policy? $500. But it saved me at the time between $300 and $500 because thats what the other insurance companies wanted to charge me for just the one vehicle.

At the time I bought the bike I went with dariyland because that is who the dealer recommended and had connections with (i.e. were a broker for). I am still pissed I paid them for 2 years without thinking to shop around for a better rate (to be fair I was also 28 when I bought the ducati new so... young and stupid).

If you canceled wouldn't they have to rebate the unused portion of your payment?
