78 Felt washer mod/fix.

Hey all,

Nearly finished rebuilding my carbs and thought I'd give a little tip on what to use to replace your felt washers.

I didn't feel like making them. Or ordering the originals. So I used o'rings I had laying around in a bunch of assortments.

Throttle shaft:
7/16 x 9/16 x 1/16

Choke shaft:

7/32 x 11/32 x 1/16

(Oddly enough, none of my metric assortments had anything that fit 'just right'.)

A note on the throttle shaft rings..... 1/16th thickness seemed a little sloppy in a couple spots, though on the others they were a tight fit.

I also added o'rings to the outermost choke shaft. Originally there is no felt washer there, I just wanted them to serve as extra support for the shaft itself.

Each shaft is nice and snug, sealed up beautifully. Though still rotate smoothly.

By the way, I DID NOT remove the felt washer "retainers".

Hope this helps someone else!
