I am contemplating some mild improvements. 

1/4 turn throttle to shorten the twist
frame brace (bolt in between bottom front engine mounts) from Ripple Rock.  I originally bough the brace for my 550/650 project, but on that bike I will likely just weld a permanent tube brace across the front (clearing for the oil filter and headers of course).  BigSam did something similar on his 750 to also serve as a mount for his oil cooler.

I'm not sure, but I think FunJimmy bought one for his 550. 

I can post some "after" pics when I install mine.  It should improve rigidity to the frame.  It is a similar to an X brace welded into the rear of the frame behind the carburetors.

I still haven't installed the front frame brace yet.  I got sidetracked buying a used '04 R6 for $800 for a friend (clean title but mildly low-sided), and getting it cleaned up.

Here are some pictures from Ripple Rock of the brace installed for those wanting to see the placement on the frame.





Not bad for $800.  No frame damage, minimal damage to one engine sidecover, and scratches to the bodywork.  Clean title (no report of accident).

Since you have already lamented your lack of garage space, I just wanted to give out a very gracious offer of garage space at my house for your Nine Lives bike.  I have a huge 3 car garage and have absolutely no qualms whatsover about booting Logan's Jeep to live outside so as to provide a clean, safe place for her to live. 

I promise to take her out regularly for plenty of exercise and, best of all, I won't charge you a single penny for doing all that (swell guy huh?).

It's VERY encouraging to see new models -- to see the motorcycle industry shaking the cobwebs off and coming back alive with new models and new innovation.

Yamaha is making some very cool bikes -- utilizing existing models as platforms.  New XSR700 and XSR900 (Street Tracker), MT-10, MT-03.  KTM, Ducati, Triumph, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Honda all debuting many new models!

Thanks.  It's actually for a friend of mine who does metal fabrication.  I just did the negotiation and purchase.  I think he's planning to strip off the fairings, do some minimal body work, fabricate a new subframe -- essentially make it a lightweight streetfighter.

Have you seen the new naked R1 and the Suzuki GSX-S 1000 ?  They would be fun bikes... ;)

I wish I had a warehouse, or even an overseas shipping container for overflow!  No, problem (regarding the photo).  I hope to mount it soon.  Getting ready to run to Vegas for the AMA Flat Track finals and the Superprestigio of the Americas this weekend.

The headlight/cowl reminds me of the aliens in District 9.  The naked bike category has some serious competition (BMW S1000R, KTM Super Duke 1290, Aprilia Tuono 1100, Yamaha MT-10).

They're going after Duc sales but at a much higher price point - well that and other Scramblers.
