Lost cylinders 2 and 3 during my last ride. Checked but could not find a loose wire to the coils. Need to check the coil.

The green paint set from VMR, is that Candy Jade Green? It seems darker than most Candy Jade pics I've seen.

I agree Scott. I think that may be a product of my painter laying on the candy heavier, but I like it. Achieving a perfect stock look was not my goal, but staying closer to it than a full custom.

Electrical gremlin resolved! Of course, when I started the bike again, cylinders 2 and 3 fired with no problem. I took it over to my buddy Jay. All of the connections were good. We found out that the wire to the coils had an internal break -- just enough so that the wire would/would not make a connection if bent enough. Wire replaced. Problem solved!!

After a new clutch and springs and a oil change, the bike is running like a champ!!

A couple of people asked about the paint. It is Honda Planet Blue Metallic from RS Paint in the UK http://www.rsbikepaint.com/en-us/shop-paints.php?colourscheme=3963&6847=on
Their paints are water-based and much less expensive than VMR. VMR also has a great looking Planet Blue Metallic.

Check again. I paid $38 for shipping. I paid less than $90 for the metallic paint AND shipping. Much cheaper than VMR.

It was about 2-2.5 weeks from the order date. VMR took a month.

I gave the 550 a solid ride this weekend. Something I noticed: on deceleration without braking between 49-45, I get some head shake/bar shimmy if I don't have a solid grip on the bars. The wheels are balance, no crash damage to the frame, newly rebuilt forks and new wheel and newer steering head bearings (1 year old). Nothing violent or dangerous, but a little odd. I don't think the Tarozzi fork brace is causing it. I was thinking of installing a steering damper just in case.

A glorious attribute the 550s all have had that I've owned is the ability to let the handle bars go while riding. I've never had the mods that you have done but I never needed to for the riding I do..... Alright truth be told the funds don't allow me too! Have you rechecked the tightness of the triple tree? Could possibly be poor tapered bearings? HondaMan made a post on how sometimes a batch or two tapered bearings just do not hold up. Something possible let to check?

I don't think it's the bearings since I had them with the same trees for the last year. I may have to adjust the steering stem bolt.

I have found that tapered steering bearings will need to be re-adjusted sometimes a couple times in the first 5000 miles

That's what I meant. Also how sometimes once torqued they can become "flat", not as smooth. But that's rare according to HondaMan. I had one set go bad in less than 6 months. Contacted All balls and they sent me new ones.

Thanks. Like I said in the vote thread, I'm glad it was so well received by our crowd. I rode it to a Downtown Huntington Beach bike spot yesterday and nobody gave it a second look.
