Hey Raymond, to late indeed but had it figured out already...
All will make a habit of it to always hold the clutch lever when firing... or to always put in neutral when killing it...

Which reminds me of my bike exam... Had to drive somewhere. Pull over and move it backwards just to show that you can handle the dead weight of the bike, but I forgot to put it in neutral before I killed it. Boy was I stressed... couldn't find the neutral :D

the kadett was my first car, bought it when i was 18, worked on it for 4 years...

tackled the carbs today

since exhaust on the nr1 cylinder wasn't heating suspected the carbs so had to take them apart.

went fearly easy concidering it was the first time I did that.

Found that the needle on carb 1 was stuck. Took it apart and the spring was bend and twisted, since I didn't have another one got it straight as much as possible and that seemed to work.
Also there was a piece of dirt on the main jet, so replaced that one.

Other then that no major issues, just cleaned all the carbs, changed all the O-rings, gaskets and idle jets.

soaked the bodies in hot water with some degreaser and cleaned with a small brush.





Not esthetically perfect but they are clean in and outside so I'm happy.


I'll bench synch them tomorrow and that should be it for the carbs I hope...

bench sync went ferfect, not that difficult at all...
Just found out you have to be really carefull not to destroy the tread in the carbs...

bought myself a little present, cognito moto top tree. But will paint it black I think...


next will be the engine removal this week, so I can paint it and renew the seals/bolts

removed the engine from te frame




the engine has been taking apart before (blue sealent here and there) and miscellaneous bolts and nuts have been used...









I think i'm missing this sprocket cover?


blasted the frame today


primed it in black, if there is damage it will be less noticable






had some 2 pack leftovers, one can was matte, one can was high gloss, comined the two so it would be satin but guess there was a bit to much gloss paint... not that big of an issue ...

painted the engine en started to renew the gaskets since it was leaking oil in a few places



then I found this...



Wheels have been send of to powder satin black,
Did the hubs myself with new all balls bearing and seal


pressed in the new cups for tapered bearing


and sourced to F1 calipers for the spoked wheels

got a friend of mine to make "my" own version of the gordon frame kit since they are nowhere to buy in Belgium/Europe







After I was sure the middle section could be removed, welded it and cleaned it all up






all i have to do now is drill two holes in the triangle so I can bolt a plate to the back of it

You'll be happy (later) that you put that frame kit in -- although not a happy as if you would have been installing it before painting the frame.

touched up the paint on the frame...





made the connection with the triangles and two strips of metal



back to the engine, fixed the clutch


in the proces of getting the old and cracked lifter plate of I broke a bolt. Drilled it out and tapped new tread, clearly I did something wrong because the backplate which holds the bolts just cracked when I mounted the new lifter plate.... So had to install a new back plate as well...


all back together with new lifter plate


new seals and some polishing


testfitted the F1 calipers together with the F2 lower tripple and F2 stainless hoses. Perfect!




so painted that as well

so now the engine could go back in the frame, what a difference with those tubes out of the way...


some random pieces...

machined the rear rotor and repainted the center

some brake parts




found the missing sprocket cover which my bike didn't have when I bought it so repainted it together with the exhaust clamps.

cognito moto triple with mini gauges


then had my summer holiday and build the rest of the bike




the pods will have to go for now, will stick with the airbox if I get it in place that is...

also another question.
I have an F2 but with some F1 bits like brakes, rear and front end.
I have a 630 chain, 14/41 sprockets.

I installed them on the bike with no problems but the chain tensioner is almost at the end and it's not really tight at all (more then the manual says.)

Is this because the chain is too long? Can't be worn since it's new...
I do have a 43 sprocket would that help?

well, the front brakes worked fine, but couldn't get the rear one to work...
Bled it like 10 times but air would keep coming up in the master cylinder.

Got fed up with it and took it apart again to find out I turned the spring up side down which caused the seal to be stuck on the side of it...

mounted it correct and 2 minutes later I had a working rear brake!

Also put the 43 sprocket on the bike and chain issue is solved (was rather logic but this is all new to me...)

and also put the stock airbox in place and what a difference, now I have the full power of the bike. Won't be using the pods anymore!

finally got my (real) license plate so the first legal miles have been driven today :)

I was actually sanding the tank down because I had no license plate, and the day after it arrived...
So worked a bit extra yesterday, sprayed it with filler, sanded it down and primed it last night.

Next step will be the color (green from the headlight) with a satin gloss clear coat and black honda letters.

Also mounted a rear light after the seat, didn't like the side mounting that much... Way better now me thinks :p





also made a side panel for the electrics cover since the original one doesn't follow the lines of the frame which is a shame...

thx guys!

sanded the primer down yesterday after work and went to a friend who owns a body shop, he let me use his paint boot and this is the result :)

















only thing left to now is some maintenance for this winter, renew the O-rings in the head cause the head is leaking in the middle were the header is and overhaul the forks with new springs and oil...
