Dual taillights with turn signal wiring
« on: March 11, 2014, 05:41:27 pm »
I am trying to hook up dual single tail lights that will also be the rear turn signals.
I am good with house electrical but 12V systems with rectifiers and relays I have very little knowledge.

I am planing on having the 2 lights below hooked up as tail lights as well as them function as turn signals, can someone please tell me how to hook up the wiring and any relays or anything else I need.

Thanks ;D

man I feel like a nubie  :o

technically you need running lights, brake lights, and turn signals.  this could be achieved with a trailer tail light converter that takes all three inputs and outputs 2 combined brake/turn signal  where the turn signal cancels the brake light on the side activated

Did that on my xs650 bobber a few years ago, still working great.

Cool I didn't know about these modules. Maybe for next time I want to change the look of a tail section.

You can also solder the wires together from the new light to make one lead and Hook it up to your exsisting loom. We just did that on my sons bike last night.

I often thought of doing this to a stock 650 tail lite.  It has dual bulbs 80 and up.

This looks like a really useful mod... Do any of you guys with experience doing this with the trailer connector have additional clarification of the wiring process to add? I assume you need to convert the rear lights used to 1157 or other dual-filament pigtails...? Any idea which Draw-tite module to choose? Thanks in advance. RR
