custom oiltank question.
« on: March 14, 2014, 02:37:48 AM »
Hello

I'm about to weld together an custom oiltank for my cb750.

My main question is about the return line from the engine is it important to get that to return the oil OVER the oil in the tank or would it function if the return is about half the way up in the tank so the oil wold cover the tube.

Hope you get the picture and can answer.

Thanks

It's way more important to get the line diameter correct than it is placement of the return line. If I am not mistaken the return is still under pressure (unlike a wet sump where the return is gravity feed) which means it will pump back into the tank no matter where it is placed.

Line diameter would be 10AN that's like the original.

And thanks, this will make the project a bit easier

I  Believe  that if the tube ends in the oil,  it will run thru the tube into the sump when not running....
