It seems that the NHRA exhaust tether rule will only apply to events put on by NHRA tracks for their own events.
I was concerned about a lot of people turning up at Commerce without them when the Manufacturers Cup rolls into town.
I have been in touch with one of the organizers of the Man Cup events and he told me it would not apply to their event at Commerce.

It will not apply to the Man Cup because they will carry their own insurance.

NHRA owns Atlanta Dragway, any event help there under full control of their management is an NHRA event. ET Summit events are NHRA events. Teethers required!!!!!!

I just talked to the manager at NATIONAL TRAILS RACEWAY a NHRA owned track in OHIO and he said that general rule [ EXHAUST TETHERS ] was for 4 wheels and could come under two wheels IF THAT NHRA TRACK reads the GENERAL rules that way.  He said to call you local NHRA TRACK for their feelings about this GENERAL RULE.  But you-all bike racers can come to NHRA NATIONAL TRAILS in OHIO with a "safe system" and no tether with two bike classes Street ET. or SUPER PRO BIKES.  The " GOT BRUCE " bikes are waiting for you !!!!!

Several of the local racers at Commerce approach both track management and the Division 2 director, this requirement will be enforced at Atlanta Dragway. Uhhhggggggg :-(  !!

Will get with you before the Cup race on the tether so you can bring it down. Got lots to do before then. Building a 1260 KZ engine and fixing my tranny issues in the F model. Busy days and nights ahead.

I have a question. Are these tracks all following official NHRA rules? I feel like there is a large threshold of what rules apply depending on what track you're at. My experience has been with auto-mobiles. I don't race motorcycles.... yet. The other day on one of those speed channel shows they made a guy put a race seat into a car to drag race it even though it wasn't heavily modified and only slightly quicker than its stock trim. They said is wouldn't pass tech inspection. Meanwhile over at NJ Raceway Park, you could run a rocket strapped to a broomstick on any given Wednesday night and no one would look twice. <-- Obvious exaggeration but you understand what I mean.

I would have liked to see that show,if he had a door car he can run any seat he wants as long as its mounted properly and he has the required belts

True, our 8.90 class  car gets the hard check at one track and at another they don't even look at it. I prefer the real tech guy, you never know, He might see something you missed. I certify for one class faster just because it's my kid driving. It goes 7.5's wide open, we certify for 6.0. We have a fire bottle, engine diaper, Hans, etc. Next will be a better suit. I just bought the weld on cable from RJ race cars. I'd bet they will sell a 1/2 kit for a bike.

I had a street fox body running 10.90s and didn't need anything at all other than a driveshaft loop and helmet.

I was a little surprised last weekend at SGMP when the tech man asked to see my brakes working, it's never happened before
I wheeled the bike forward and hit the front brake....it worked.
Looking at where you would expect to see the rear brake peddle, he asked me to use the rear brake.
I wheeled the bike forward and pulled on the clutch leaver, the rear tyre made a little squeal and he just smiled and stuck the pass sticker on my head lamp.
