Topic: 10" wheel sidecar

hi guys
im looking to build a spare motor for 10" wheel classic outfit sohc 750 for 750 class camathias cup
im planning on using 750 hi comp pistons from dynaman
would like a few opinions on the Falicon knife rods,
and advise on what cam to use
i have 29mm cr carbs

Bear (Brian) will likely chip in with cam & rod advice.  Has lots of experience with the SOHC's in sidecars.  Although don't get him started on transmissions.

I've seen the helmet in photos on Steve's Place.  Who's chassis is it?

Thanks Sam.  He seems to be one of the more popular 'classic' chassis builders these days, along with Mike Richards.  If the shipping costs were not so prohibitive that's were I'd send the Fiddaman for restoration.

We have stuck a set of Falicon rods in our A motor, but have yet to put any hours on the motor.
They do look the goods though.

As far as cams go I would be looking for something with a lot of lift and bugger all overlap.
I'm using a Megacycle 125/75 in one of our motors and it works very well.
I recon a 125/65 would do the job in a 750cc motor.
But as I mentioned earlier try and stay away from anything with a lot of overlap.
OH! we usually run an extra 5deg. advance over the timing card as well.

Thanks Bear could I also trouble you for a guide on crank balance factor, on my dope triumph I used 80% but am unsure for honda.
Hay TIntop the Bellas chassis is the dogs, handles as good as it looks, a lot of thought and experience went into the manufacture

Can't help straight up with crank figures, I use 900F crank's.
But I'll ask around for you.
Got a couple of mates who run very fast Honda chairs.
Will get back to you ASAP.
What type of tracks do you usually run at, tight or fast?
Got a weight for your other motor's crank?

Just rang Bill White my crank man.
Unlike your Triumph the Honda's don't have a balance factor.
The their crank configuration sorts that out, two up two down they cancel each other out.
Still a good idea to balance piston/rings and conrods though.

Hay Bear , the tracks I run are mainly road so it's fast and flowing for me , I didn't get the weight of crank. From other eng , would I be right in removing 1.5kg. ..

kezz32, I knew I had seen a picture of your bike before.  It's in the Jan/Feb issue of Classic Racer.  It was taken at the BHR event at Cadwell (Sept 2013).
