Removing pilot jets
« on: February 26, 2016, 07:25:52 PM »
Does anyone have some advice on pulling the pilot jets on the PD carbs for my cb750k7?   I tried pulling on one of them with a pair of pliers but didn't get to far.   I marked it up with the pliers and didn't want to make it any worse so stopped trying.   I have rebuilt and cleaned the rest of the components but from reading on the forum I had better check the pilot jets to finish everything correctly.

Heat will help, and use something to protect brass i.e. rubber hose.

weird guessing that model doesn't screw out? i would stay away from heating something that has had lots and lots of gas running through it... you could always cut a line in the top and turn it freeing it up. thats if your replacing them.

Get a small piece of leather and wrap it over the jet, then use your pliers and give them a gentle circular rocking motion and they'll come right out.

Slip a short piece of reinforced fuel line over the jet and grab with vice grips.

Pull straight off, twisting if necessary..do not bend sideways.
