RE: Latest Score 1975 CB750 1 Owner 8,000 original miles
« on: March 15, 2014, 04:18:41 PM »
Ok here it is my latest score, a 1975 CB750 1 owner with 8,000 original miles.  Aparently the original bought it from his friend who worked at a Honda dealership in Maryland rode it around for a few years then parked it.  Last registered on the road is 1980.  It was nice being able to get one close by and not have to do several hours worth of driving.

If you can look past all the dirt, pine tar and crusty chrome there is a really nice bike.  The best part is that the infamous number 2 pipe is solid!  All four pipes are solid without holes, but the right side has some rust as can be seen in the pics.

So I go to drop here off in my secrete hideout, and to my surprise I have beautiful right side exhaust to replace the ones with surface rust!  It is looking like I am going to do A Ok on this one.

I was happy that the bike rolled good and shifts through the gears statically.

Thanks! Yeah waiting for a nice sunny day to begin the de tarring process.  The parts bike I picked up earlier in the year has all the nice shinny bits on it.  I am thinking a little elbow grease and you won't even recognize this as the same bike.  Does not look it, but she will clean up A Ok.

LOL.....it has the same thing going on as my K5 did when I drug it out of a woodshed....a PO that wanted to be Peter Fonda so he added a sissy bar, king n queen seat and a pair of ape's.  Yours is the planet blue and mine is the apricot red.  Mine had lowering blocks and unfortunately a Jardine 4-2 system that replaced the NEW stock pipes because they got his wifey's feet too hot.  Great find.  I cant wait to see it polished up!

Yeah must be a common thing bike a bike ride it a bit and into the shed it goes.  I am hopeful about this one.  I keep forgetting to ask the PO if he turned it over on a regular basis.  Got a feeling that he did.  If not there you know that at least one valve has some rust on it.

I kinda like that jardine system got one in a box waiting to be installed.  As for the whole polishing got some goof off to start de taring the sap and I will go from there.

Yeah that is the way we like em' here.  Big huge a** K & Q seats too.  Can't wait for this freaking weather to break I am going to have a ball.

Got my parts back from another 75, this one has powder coat top to bottom and looks 10X better than rusty chrome.  I told my guy don't worry about the fenders and he just killed it!

Here is a pic of the tripple he did

http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r212/chewbacca5000/tripple_zpsc5ce9cc7.jpg

This guy is a jedi master of this stuff.  I think I will go with a black and polished aluminum theme.  Not sure about tank and sides though.

Is that just a special deal to you because of previous business ? If not and that's standard quality and pricing, does he take on small single piece jobs readily or would he rather price the entire job such as yours ? I like his work. My $ is real slow right now...

You...you...LUCKY DOG!  :D

Thanks Hondaman!  Everyone once and a while it is nice to get an "easier" project.

Boy, no kidding! The one I'm doing now sat out on Guam for 5+ years, then into a shed as-was for another 7 before it came to me. I'm glad to do it, though, as the owner loves it as much as I do mine, and with 60k+ on the clock it needed some inside TLC, too. He obviously NEVER missed an oil change, as the bearings only show tenths of wear: when you get to work on one like this, though terrible on the outside, it's always a joy.  :D

Then there's the K0 I'm attempting: if rated on a 1-100% of "how much there is to work with", it's in the single digits. Ah, the challenge!

NICE!   I can never understand how there can be such low mileage bikes.  I hardly have any time to ride, but manage 3 to 5k a year....  The PO should have spent more time on the road, than dressin it up with the trick bars and seat. ;D ;D

Can't wait to see the cleaned up version.
Congrats!

Now your just making me feel like a slacker you have a single digits worth of usable parts to build a K0 and I have an engine with just over 3,000 miles that just needs a new cam chain.  Guess I have no excuses to not tackle that now.

Interesting story on the Guam bike would have thought the elements might have had more of an effect.

Kicks over no problem.  Paint has some pine tar need to deal with, but is in ok shape.  Gotta love those apes.

Best part is was adult owned and never raced.
