Gosh Chewy...$600 bucks what a steal. Very nice...did you pick it up yet and kick it over? I bet that blue will polish up nice. Paint looks really good. You going to keep the apes or go OEM?

Gotta love those apes.

No no no, don't gotta love the apes!

So after seeing a rash of 75 CB750s on Ebay all with about the same mileage as mine and looking very similar I got to thinking maybe I should check my storage and see if my latest catch was still there.  Man was I happy when I opened up the door and she was intact.  She has 8,500 miles and change.

Taking a quick look I could not just leave without doing something so I took the tank back home to try and desap it and to my shagrin she cleaned up quite nicely.  Does has some spots small spots where the sap took a little bit of the paint with it, but after an hour of buffing rubbing and polishing here is what I got.

I can't wait to baptise the mufflers in some oxalic acid to get rid of the surface rust on those.

O yea forgot to mention it is 99.9 percent dent free and the inside is actually quite good for having gas since 1980 something.  Can't beat real gas it is just like a natural preservative.

Yeah I know right.  Pretty excited with this hurdle out of the way it is green light on the elbow grease-a-thon.  It is actually presentable.  Got the nice treat of snake skin and rats nest under the seat.

I should post a pic the original seat after cleaning all the crud off it.  Looks great!  Think it's older brother the 74 parts bike is going to give it's arms and legs if the chrome does not clean as expected.  We'll see.

We'll it has been over a year since I picked up this old planet blue from the original owner.  Here is what she looked like before.

I re-zinced all the important Honda original hardware, powder coated the top tree, kickstand, engine brackets,, and drivers pegs.  You would not believe how much of a difference a little powder makes to the way a bike looks.

As for functional / cosmetic improvements I installed new tapered neck bearings, and wheel bearings.  Also relaced the front and rear wheels with original Honda spokes that were re-zinced.  These are much higher quality that aftermarket spokes IMO.  New bridgestone splitfires too.

Other than repacking the clutch, carb clean, and tank flush there was nothing required other than the customary 3,000 mile tune up.

Sure have it runs great!  It is a little quieter o so smooth.  Runs and shifts great.  I am very happy with the way it turned out.  Wish I could keep them all as I just like to stare at this one.  Really nice to have a truly original machine.

Not sure what to ask.  Thinking about throwing it up on Ebay no reserve like the old days when Ebay was a true auction site.  Could be kinda of fun.

Thanks Frank.

It is just a fraction of the cost of new spokes as I do them in batches with other parts.  I think I did 50+ lbs of zinc hardware in my last batch for $160 usd.  I get charged per rack.

For best result choose spokes that are grayish to powdery white, but not rusty brown.

OEM spokes are much, much better quality.

Keep it chewy, original paint bikes are getting harder to find.

I would love to keep her in my collection, but soon I will have bills to pay so I need to thin the herd.
