Another Brake Question 750F
« on: March 25, 2014, 10:00:06 AM »
I was direct to some new brake lines from slingshot cycle by some members here, but I just cant bring myself to spend 90 bucks on some rubber. Am I being ridiculous? is there any lines cheaper anywhere? Or can i continue using my old brake lines? there is nothing wrong with them, i just figured i need to replace the lines since they are getting old. Thoughts?
Thanks !

Over time the old rubber breaks down and can "bulge" when you squeeze the lever, losing pressure at the caliper. But if there's nothing wrong with yours, don't replace them.
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

Even if they are 8 or 9 years old? There are no hairline cracks on the front hoses, but on the rear there just a few tiny little cracks. I am just afraid I am gonna be riding one day, squeeze the lever and the hose will blow out. Will that not happen?

+1.

If you are used to them as is then no big deal. You MAY or may not be able to tell a noticeable difference. Not sure about prices but you can get new front lines from Honda last I checked. The rear is not available.

8 or 9 years NEW! Mine were original when I broke the bike down a few years ago. I'll still use the original rear. Anything CAN break but will it?!

Very true, I just wanted to get some opinions, but I will really only be able to ride safe knowing my brakes are perfect, so I will go ahead and buy them.
