I've joined this forum as I've just acquired an intact and 'all there' 1975 Candy Jade Green CB550F. This will be a new experience for me as I'm a long-time vintage GL restorer (and NGW member) so, there's going to be a strong learning curve until I get up to speed on these bikes. Currently, I've taken tons of photos (over 1000 so far) as I stripped it down to the frame. It, and several other parts are now ready to be powder coated. I'm now in the process of researching parts etc.
One of the items I need is a factory correct seat. While doing searches on what's 'correct' and available, I came across some information that I cannot verify. Everything I see about the seats on my year CB indicates that it came from Honda with only one color of seat: black. However, a seller on eBay is offering a (pricey) seat for the CB that's brown. He claims it was an option for the '75/'76 years. Is this correct? I was considering it as a possibility however, I'm skeptical of the claim as I can find no other references that validate that Honda produced a brown seat for the CB. What say you?
Another critical item will be the gauges. Mine are both seized and in poor condition. I've restored GL gauges before and they can be a challenge!
