Flat 4 into 1 exhaust
« on: March 18, 2014, 05:34:15 PM »
I have been building a 72 cb750 into a touring bike for my girlfriend starting with lowering the bike back to a reasonable hight (PO had installed +4 forks on and I had trouble touching at 6'6).  Now I am having trouble with the home made 4 into 1 scrapping on speed bumps.  I was thinking of using a flat 4 into 1 collector to save vertical space.  I was hoping that someone else  had a  set like this that I could look at.  I'm also looking at lowering the rear just a bit because with the cb550 forks the front I about 1" short now (rider is 5'4) and I need to shorten the center stand and kickstand (90 deg with the kickstand down and takes 3 people to get it on the center).

sounds like it's still quite a hack job... buy stock parts and stop suffering... and stop riding over speed bumps.
i know, not what you wanted to hear... but if you're 6'6" and can't lift the rear off the ground, well um...

My Kerker scrapes a bit also ('76 750F).  My easy solution is to take the bumps slow & at an angle.  :)

Check out an F2 header 77/78 factory 4 into 1. They're pretty flat and can fit a K. The 75/76F do not fit with a drum brake pedal.

Thanks retro rocket I spotted that was 1 option I was thinking as for not getting the rear up the center stand has been cut and extended with a custom kick to help with the pos mods now that its up the rear is almost 5" off the ground.  I did find this set up that I think I will copy

I have a picture of F2 pipes on my projects thread. 76 cb750 F1 brought back from the grave. Dont ask why I have F2 pipes with an all F1 bike but it works.

I actually like the way the flat collector looks.

Either a F0/F1 or a F2/F3 header.
