My gamble paid off!
« on: March 20, 2014, 08:49:37 AM »
Some of you may remember me posting about a 650 Kijiji find in January.  As it was a four hour drive, no pics but based on a converstaion with the owner, I took a chance & sent him a deposit to keep for me and I was hoping it wouldn't be a total waste of time & money.

So I made the trek north with a trailer last weekend and....was very pleasantly surprised with what I saw.  The bike was complete and had been plated the last three years, PO said it had a new chain & one tire.  As I am checking the tank (no rust or dents!) the guys says, oh the stuff on the shelf comes with it too.  I look over & see a ratty set of soft saddle bags, bike cover, turn signal lens, bulb & holder, owners manual in the original plastic case & a Clymers . Trying hard not to grin too stupidly, I hand him the cash, show him where to sign the ownership, & load up the trailer.

It never seems to happen to me, but I think this time I got a great deal! I don't think it will take a lot to get it running again (famous last words, they will probably come back to haunt me) Obligatory pic attached.  Now I need warm weather to do some wrenching!

From what I hear, you will still have a few months to get it going good before you can ride.  At least in the Soo it's friggin miserable yet.

WRT the bike, I've only ever purchased one from nothing but pictures and a description, My 77 Moto Guzzi Lemans. I too got lucky on that one. Tis a great feeling isn't it?

Should be a great rider for you.

Looks nice Bruce!  Good find.  Now you've got that cam for hopping-up your 500. ;D
