SO........its been a year.........and we (Carol & I) have been traveling. Mostly a 5-month trip to Alaska, but stops in North Carolina, Wash-DC, and Atlanta. We are now in Pocatello, ID, at our daughter's home. I am resting nicely after hernia-repair surgery.......probably from lifting too many motors during all of the moving last year. I am posting here to continue the thread with progressive plans to make another trip to Bonneville in 2018.

My naked-bike record has been modestly topped by a Triumph Trident rider..........hence the need for me to return. Apparently the Classic Class pits all 4-stroke motors against each other by size. Not a lot to report about actual updates to the bike at this time.......just an opportunity to say Merry Christmas and let anyone interested know that actual work will begin on the bike upgrades in April.

Lake Gardinar is active today and for the next week...........only communication is a land-line for emergencies and some SAT-phones..........I'm relaxing in Florida while my brother-in-law recovers from some serious ICU time following back surgery.

My plans for 2018 Bonneville are on track...........

We have been busy bending alloy sheets and straps for a new seat/tail section along with extending the swingarm by 2.5-inches and slightly raking the frame to push the front axle forward by 1.5-inches. Hopefully this will keep a good weight-ratio on what was a well balanced and stable bike. We have tweaked the fairing mounts so the bike is 2 inches lower and 1 inch narrower.

I acquired a used van to pull the trailer and haul 4 of us to Wendover in late August. Staying at the Motel 6 with racing beginning on Sunday August 26.

I have a few pics copied to my Google Pictures page..........but apparently remain too large to attach........help ;)

That is quite a bit of work and sounds like it should be a positive change. Good luck, we'll be watching.

Thanks, Brent.............With all of the changes to the front and rear, nearly every fastener has been changed........most to SS. My butt will be sitting about 3-inches higher but my head/helmet should be at the same position relative to the tanks..........which means I need to exercise my neck ;D ;D ;D

The crank-end will be cut so the motor will be narrower and should allow the fairing to be evenly balanced for improved air-flow. We hope to achieve the cut with the top-case intact. The tranny will be changed out for an F2 unit to get the closer ratio between 4th & 5th........about 30% less overdrive. I hope the K4 cases and out-put shaft don'd object ;)

Here is the link to the tentative 2016 AMA Landspeed records set at the BMST.

http://americanmotorcyclist.com/Home/News-Story/ama-congratulates-racers-who-set-records-at-2016-ama-land-speed-grand-championship

I LIKE  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D that my naked 750 went faster than the partial-streamlined 1000cc-based on a 750 from Japan ridden by a Mr. Honda ;D ;D ;D

Dennis, OK, it was back in 2016 but interesting to note that the fastest bike there was a sidecar powered by ELECTRIC. hahahaha.

Eva's side-hack lacks soul and has no heart............it was never produced for the masses and could never be street legal..........and most of the power parts can be purchased at a recycled electronics shop.

She also has more change in her purse than my retirement fund ;D

I'm with ya mate and it's true.
I have a lot of friends that are playing about with Electric motorcycles and just don't have the funding to get their hands on the stuff needed to make them any faster.

3 weeks!!! and counting. The excitement is building. Tell us what you are up against this year to keep everyone up to date.

Anything definite from Frank?! A "minor" engine knock shouldn't slow him down after he cobbled together a bike to ride to Colorado last fall!! Get the wrenches going Frank.......

I wil, rip it apart in the next few days,  and patch it up..
It was a 250 dollar parts bike  I put 17,000 miles on it since 2015.

All right Frank :) :) :) I need to go faster to get the naked bike record back from the Triumph Trident ;)...........and I would think he will be ready with bigger ammo...........as well as others in the expanding Classic category. My original goal of exceeding 150-mph is in reach.
