I'll be driving to UMC for the AHRMA race and was planning to stop by Bonneville on Thursday for a few hours. Hoping to make a pass or 2 down the salt in 2019. Would love to see your setup if you're still there.

Thursday runs until 1:PM...............you may have to register before 5:PM on Wednesday. I got a close look at your bike in 2009 at the Miller Motorsports Park......maybe posted a pic or two on this forum. I try to be finished on Wednesday........but this year am competing in 4 classes so may have to use an extra day. Look for Jerry, the RXman and MotherFer, for contact on the salt.

It's really hard to get there early if you want to do AHMRA as well.
And seeing as I Been at AHMRA twice now  on Friday setup day, and missed the races, it's time I finally see them..
As a spectator, the first few days at the Salt are probably not as busy as Tuesday and Wednesday..

Wasn't me Dennis, I've only been to Miller once, last year. I stopped at Bonneville on the way there, just to check it out. Didn't realize it was motorcycle speed week, so it was a pleasant surprise. Spent a few hours walking around the pits, at the half way point I'd guess. Very cool, but laid back scene. Saw a guy I recognized from our road race series, who happens to spend a lot of time setting up the course, and happens to have a movie about him and his friends building bikes to take to Bonneville.  The movie is Out of Nothing.

Wish I could be there earlier, but it's not really possible. Best of luck on your runs guys.

Allen........it was a bike with a very similar paint scheme in 2009.

Backup battery arrived from Bill, spare 16t sprocket now on hand, and the electro-magnetic fuel taps are expected today.

My leathers are a bit loose........especially in the waist. I have a spare set borrowed from a friend that are a tight-fit....just in case....but they would be just about right for Jerry ;)

I'm lean and mean coming in around 155 and I need to drop a few more for my old man beach body  ;D

Glad you got the spare battery loaned by another record holder. It sure would have been nice to have backed up that 142mph run last time out. What is the record now?

The naked bike record is now 134+ but I still have the 140+ partial streamlined record. If they allow my new seat/tail section for the naked record...........I should be good for 140+ ;D..............and 150+ in PS.

Thanks, Dave..........................So So day at the dyno............still at 69 RWHP..........on a not so up to date machine run by a H.D. rider...........but it tells us we have good power in 5th gear to pull 10,500 rpms after we changed jets down to 120s on the Mikuni RS34 carbs. Speed-wise indicates well above 140...........Dave Murre is concerned that we may get too lean. We cut the session short when a lock-nut on #4 intake tappet came loose.......but not OFF.  More tinkering tomorrow with final fit and finish........and hopefully some pics. :) :) :)

Did you see there is a new landspeed record for wheel driven vehicles at 433.xx? mph
Pretty darn fast!

I hope you pull it off on the records you are aiming for Dennis. Safe prep and travels for your trip.
I once saw a van cut up, wheel base extended, racks/ramps put on the rear after removing body and shortening body to be a drivers and passenger only vehicle...end result a car hauler.  Very unconventional and redneck but it worked for goal... It also towed a trailer that was pretty long and end result was the van hauler with trailer brought back from Eastern PA to NE Ohio 3 60s Volvos and the Volvos were worth about $15k and now would sell for $28-40k if kept in that same very nice condition.

That 69 rwhp is a mystery. I've seen it do 142mph on the slippery salt. I don't think there is any way 69hp would do that. I'd believe more like 99+ rwhp. At least you have it at 10500. Bring a couple more rear sprockets  ;)

See you next Friday  ;D

Thanks guys.............the rocker threads were damaged by the valve tip.........found the lash-cap laying against the spring in #3.........replaced the rocker and pin, then checked all clearances and set to .005

Tried to install the electric fuel shut-offs but found the inner hole to be very small and at a right-angle..........now trying to source a pair of shut-off valves with 5mm or larger flow capacity. Dave has a day off tomorrow, so we will run the bike on Saturday with the current petcocks.

Scottly............The dyno said 78 or 79 RWHP in 2016 and now says 69 but the tech would stop winding the motor at 10,500..........indicated 144 mph with 17x45 sprockets. I did not change the tranny gears but now have 45 to 38t for the rear and 16 to 19 for the output shaft. Elevation here is about 700-ft. We changed the jets down to 120s and the plugs are light tan..........I'm thinking they should be good for Bonneville but need to be sure we don't drain the bowls and damage the pistons. The dealership building is completely air-conditioned with 28-percent humidity in the dyno-room.

I have another set of 12v fuel shut-off valves expected to arrive on Monday............the flow rate is reported at 1/2-gallon per minute which should be plenty. They will replace the existing petcocks but will occupy a little more space that may require propping the tanks a little higher.
