Jerry has copy of graph from Dyno-Jet Drum..........Its OK to post it...........

I am told that 13.3 A/F is ideal..........so with effective altitude at Bonneville of 5200-ft and higher........I'm thinking of going smaller by a half-step on the main jets.

NO! 12.8-13.2 is considered optimum for full power, and 800 feet of elevation won't make that much difference. If I had to re-jet for an elevation change of that much, I would have to re-jet two or three times within 25 miles, no matter which direction I went. ;)

Run #3 was with a hot motor and A/F was near 14...............so down one step on the jets should get to 13.2 as I tend to run with a hot motor..............2-mile run-up ;)

14:1 is lean; you need to go UP on the jet size to get to a richer 13.2:1, not down.

OK............I got it ;)

Minor changes to the fairing and seat gets me a little more narrow and 2 inches lower for a smaller hole in the air. More air will flow THROUGH the fairing rather than pushed around it which should reduce forward pressure and reduce drag at the edges of the fairing.

I will also be lower and narrow without the fairing for reduced forward pressure on the open (naked) bike. Jerry and others may have to help me get into my new leathers. Although I have lost a few pounds, the leathers should be a snug fit..........expected to arrive any day now ;D

I will be away for a few days...........going on a dual-sport ride along the Magruder Corridor in Idaho.

That is one messed up dyno chart!! The rear tire must still have been slipping on the drum to give such jagged traces. The 70.98 HP was at 16440 RPM??!! I hope you didn't have to pay much for the dyno runs...

Dennis, how are the preparations going? I found your last dyno chart, which at least shows some useful RPM/HP data. ;D

Thanks Scottly.....................Paid too much for little to nothing :(

I watched my tach go to 14,000 while the tech was operating the throttle. New tire likely had slippage.

I have 2 projects to complete; extend the front fender covers from the forks to the rear of the wheel for the partial-streamlined classes, and cut a hole in the front of the fairing to allow the air that meets the fairing at the highest pressure point to pass through and eliminate vacuum behind the screen...........if that does not work I can just put some tape over the hole.

I've always wondered if the trick they tried at Lotus (a 3"(?) wide strip attached to the perimeter in the windscreen frame) would work on a bike fairing.  It worked to smooth the airflow to the extent the driver's tie was blowing straight back.  Legal issues prevented it from seeing the light of day in production.

TinTop............For many years I have curiously placed my hand behind a bike's windscreen and slowly raised one, then two fingers above the edge to see and feel the change in air-movement toward or over my helmet. Two or three years ago HONDA claimed a few added mph to the Fireblade attributed to the small slots in the new windscreen. I have watched numerous videos of Bonneville riders and wind-tunnel tests that show vacuum or forward-moving tape-ends or yarn-tufts behind the windscreen. My thought is to allow the air at the point-of-contact with my fairing to pass-through rather than expend the energy (hp) to push it around the bike. In a small way it would be similar to the new electric bike with the flow-through tunnel.

My new leathers are a good fit ;D........especially after I removed the internal knee and shoulder pads.

I watched my tach go to 14,000 while the tech was operating the throttle. New tire likely had slippage.

If your onboard tach showed 14K, something is wrong. Your previous dyno test showed the engine made it's peak HP at around 9.5K. Also, regarding the tire, I have over 100 runs on the same tire that I had previously logged nearly 2000 relay miles alone on, and it has survived. Was the shop owner the person that ran the dyno test, or was it an employee? If it was an employee, the owner may be more agreeable than if he was responsible for such a piss poor chart? I would request a re-test by a competent operator, and if that is not possible, request a refund.

What is the horizontal scale, RPM or MPH? Can't see in the pic.. For the dyno tach, I've had the best luck using two secondary pick-ups, one on the #1 plug wire and the other on #4 wire. Set the dyno for 360* This gave a stable reading, even with the Gerex multi spark ignition. (Jerry has a brand-new-in-the-box Gerex under his bed, which I think he should donate to the cause. ;) ;))

1st run today was 138 in 4th at 9,200 rpms with 18 x 40 on 120s...........2nd run was 137 in 5th gear at 8,100 rpms.

3rd run was 136 with 17 x 40 in 5th at 8,300 rpms.

Slower than 2018 so-far.........will go back to 17 x 44 and try for speed with more rpms.......

The great white dyno says your peak HP is at 9200 RPM. ;D
What gearing were you running last time? 17x44? IIRC, your tach was suspect that time?
