Simply the best stupid to date is Billy "The Drunk" Lane setting his bike on fire.

Can't remember which OCC build it was, but something happened with the oiling system and the motor seized (naturally, this is like the night before the big unveiling). They were up all night working on it and could not get it running, so they had to shamefully push the bike on stage.

My other fave is when the OCC guys find out they are about to miss their exit and swerve to make it, hitting the curb. The axle on the trailer gets bent and the bikes inside (not strapped down very well) all crash into each other. Priceless!

Haven't watched that #$%* in long time but one was a flat tire on the trailer (why do hardlys and trailers go together?)  and they had to call a service to come change it ;D ;D ;D ;D.

I've stopped watching that #$%* - too much "playing up to the cameras" and out of control bull#$%* egos, and not enough real bike stuff. But each to his own - no doubt they are making big bags of money.......
I did love that one though when they had to call a service van to change a flat tyre - ha ha ha.

I saw some episodes when I was in the US. I wish I could see them here. Actually they are translating it and broadcasting in Discovery Channel, but I don't like much translations nor have I pay TV, but thanks God for file sharing... ;D

Even when Teutul Jr. is an #$%*, a TV bike program is a rarity here in Spain, so I enjoy them. My favourite is one in german TV DSF, called Motobike. Is a weekly magazine about new models, and every once in a while the deal with a classic bike, mostly germans. Being able to speak a little german definitely helps...  ;D

Raul

P.S. DSF is free via satellite TV. I'm not willing to pay for 50 channels so I can see again Bill Cosby, the A team and Knight Rider.

I would stop watching, but I find it a great release to scream at the TV  :o . They never listen anyway  ::) Sometimes I turn off the sound or turn it way down and do my own "Mystery Science Theatre" thing with it. Sure is fun to adlib dialog words in for them. Last time we did, Pauly was having a love affair with Vinnie and Mikey was mad about it. :-\

Besides if I stopped watching I would get the shakes much like when this site goes down. Totally uncontrollable.  ;D

I liked in one episode when they welded the rear of the bike on found out that they won't be able to take out the transmission belt. That's called engineering! They don't do any plans, just weld this here, that there and if it goes, they are lucky. I much more liked the "bike build showoff" or something like that where 2 competent teams were making bikes.

But if you are looking for most stupid mechanical show I've seen something called "big daddy kustomizer" Oh boy, OCC are deep thinkers comparing to this.

And I did stopped watching it. It has nothing in common with motorcycling in my opinion.

regards!

My favorite was when they had the exhaust come straight up between the rider's legs. After they thought about it for a while, they realized it might get a little warm, so they wrapped it with header tape. No mention of the fact that the hot exhaust was blowing right into the rider's face.  ::)

My favorite is a recent one, although I pretty much quit watching when each new bike became a corporate advertisement.

They are now building "production" bikes.  These will be built from a single pattern, but customer will get a paint choice!  The idea is bad (for a custom bike "builder"), but the implementation was worse.  You'd think they would spend a lot of time in the design phase, but it didn't seem that way.  They got parts and cobbed it up.  The best moment came when they realized that forward controls wouldn't work with the frame they picked.  No problem.  It'll have mid-controls.  There seemed to be no point in altering design for the whole production run just because they had already purchased a few frames.

The day I saw "OCC Playing Cards" in the auto parts store, I realized they would sell their own underwear.

Another great one was a re-run I saw today with the Wendy's bike. If a battery does not fit in the box you DESIGNED for it, just stomp on it and make it fit.  ??? ::) ;D Piss on future service.

I forget the exact bike, but suffice it to say it was a virtually unridable S&S v-twin powered bike (more or less, i'm being generous).  The team of builders could not for the life of themselves figure out why it wouldn't start.  They checked the ignition system and timing repeatedly, never bothering to notice just how fast the engine was cranking.  Did I mention they didn't check the compression on the engine, either?  Turns out, they had used the wrong pushrods with the engine, which were holding the valves in a permanently open position.

Talk about greenhorns.  I learned that to make an engine run, all you really needed to do was get a mix of gas and air into the cylinder, compress it and then ignite it with a spark, with all of this happening at the right time.  I knew this as a 12 year old, yet grown "professional bike builders" apparently didn't.  I laughed for 20 minutes.   ;D

One of the most disappointing things about the show is that they seem to care little about engines beyond the fact that they come in crates and go into frames.  Ridability is not a major concern either.  For most bike build shows, ergonomics boils down to whether the rider can reach the controls.
