Honda CB750K7 Project (Gas Tank Question)
« on: March 25, 2014, 06:12:43 AM »
Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum, and I just have a few questions concerning tank options on a 1977 CB750K. I am looking to switch the tank to one without the locking fuel cap door, and I found a nice tank from an 1974 CB500 Four, and I am wondering how I would have to modify it to get it to fit. I know it might be shorter, but I am more curious about if it will use the same rubber mount on the back and if the front mounts will be the same. (I believe the Cb750 is U shaped mounts on the front?) Anyway, thanks for any info, and if this tank won't fit any suggestions for ones that do would be awesome.

Not sure as to what you need to do to fit a 500 or 550 tank to a 750. The backbone on the 500 is narrower but deeper/higher into the tank. You will likely need to modify the rear mount point and maybe the front too.

You'd be much better off using a 69-76 750 tank. The tank will mount up with no mods to the mounting points.

Awesome thanks for the reply. The 500 tank was just a good deal, but I'm just going to a 750 tank.
