swap a 1982 450 to an earlier frame (1976 or 74)
« on: March 20, 2014, 04:37:07 AM »
Hi I'm Josh,

just got my first bike this weekend. picked up a 1982 450 for $300, it's in good shape except for wiring which has been spliced and diced so many times that it's a mess. after taking a closer look after i bought it (i should have done it before) i notice the engine is part of the frame and it has some ugly bends at the back end. is it possible to swap the frame from an earlier 450 like 74 or 76? i plan to do a cafe racer but i can't modify the seat with the frame geometry.

anything can be done, but this is not a bolt in deal...those are two completely different engines and 2 completely different bikes
If it works good, it looks good...

Did a litle research and found out it's not going to be an easy swap so i decided that i will sell the bike in parts and use the money to buy another one. I don't like the frame geometry of the 82' 450. So if anyone is interested i've got it all in good condition.
