Ebay undercut cb750 gearbox
« on: April 24, 2014, 09:35:27 AM »
Hi

I just got a undercut cb750 gearbox in the mail from an Ebay seller.
In the package there was a note telling me to check mainshaft length and teeth condition before install.

One of the gears showed signs of rust even after beeing beadblasted.

There are slight marks on the other side of these teeth also.

Is this cause for consern?

Concern........yes.  But no greater than other old metal. A positive aspect is the little divots will hold oil.  If you going to have a tranny problem..........even the clean 'dogs' get sheared. Another positive aspect..........you have a model to take standard gears and replicate for replacement or a back-up unit.
