Oil breathers
« on: September 12, 2006, 04:43:11 AM »
A previous owner has lost the oil breather filter system at rear of engine so both pipes from rear of engine and oil tank are open to the air.

I have an oil breather unit off a harley can I connect that to just one of the lower pipes e.g the rear of engine tube and block other off?

Or is there another configuration to use the harley breather?

I've got a breather coming off the back of my F2 & have the inlet on the airbox plugged.  Keeps the bugs out of the engine & makes it much easier to do carb work.  Some people run a tube from the engine outlet tube to a remote location on the bike, where they then put a harley breather on (say down by the side covers etc).

I have a breather pipe coming out of rocker cover where do I route that to if I block the carby inlet?
Do I block the air intake pipe on the Oil Tank?
Do I connect the crankcase breather outlet to the Breather filter I have?
Or do I connect a T section to rocker cover outlet and crankcase outlet and connect to external Oil Breather?

I ran my breather tube to a small filter that I mounted behind the rear brake switch.
You can see the little chrome circle in the pic below , thats it...
