I fell in love with my first Honda in the mid 60's when my uncle bought a C50 short seat complete with a windshield that he used to ride back and forth to town on a rural NC highway.  Boy did he have nerve.  I was turned loose with it on the highway when I was ten.  Nobody in rural NC cared whether you had a drivers license or not back in those days.  I had my first car on the road when I was 12.  Boy those were the days!  I would love to have one of the old cubs to ride back and forth to town now but I am afraid I would get run over.

First that I can remember is on the back of my father's Yamaha XS1100. I was in 4th grade so it must have been about 1980. I think the bike was a '79. I can still hear the sound of it starting and settling into an idle when he fired it up.

Not sure of the year but it would have been a 61 or 62 Norton.

First ride was on the back of a 58 Triumph Tiger.  First bike owned after I had a license was a two year old 66 BSA Spitfire MKII.

My folks told me a story about my mom being taken for a ride on some kind of Harley when she was 8 months pregnant with me.

My first time I was clinging to the gas tank of my dads 1972 CB 750. I was two then. At 14 I started riding it on my own.  :) Eleven years later I have my own and rebuilding her from scratch.

I think the Bonneville had 2.  Either way, very cool.

That's just bad parenting.  Not that she was 8 months pregnant, but because it was a Harley.

I sat on a Harley for the first time a couple years ago at a museum just for fun...still not interested.
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.

The first bike I sat on (and rode) was my 68z50. Shortly thereafter I sat on and rode a Lambretta GP150. The first full sized bike I sat on was my uncles pre-77 550k. Not sure of the exact year. A bike that was promised to me, and was subsequently sold by my uncles brother-in-law (my other uncle by marriage) after he used it as a daily for a year or two. Something I was fairly sore about until I bought and built my current 550.

1965 Montgomery Wards Riverside, built by Benelli and sold through Wards. Belonged to a friend whose dad had two, so we both learned on them together. Probably in '66 or '67, IIRC.

1960's Triumph 350 Twin. Went for a ride, scared the hell out of me and I was hooked deep and hard. Bought a Honda CB77 Super Hawk not long after that, summer of '66. Cliff.

It was a mini-bike that my neighbor, Mr Thomas, had, he'd give us kids rides on it.  Like this:

Cool guy, he also had a '63 split window Vette in his garage that was his baby.

I think there is a photo of me at a very young age on my Dads 1964 BSA Spitfire Hornet, or His 1960 BSA Goldstar. I need to find the photo and see which one.

Not long after that I had a Z50 Honda.
