Front fork assembly got done this weekend. The springs need to be replaced but I installed them for now. Anyone have a suggestion for after market springs?

Dino, did you get any good leads on aftermarket springs yet? Are you thinking progressives or like-stock?

Got the wheels trued up. I've changed direction on this build. I'm going for a scrambler now.

Another excellent video. I will say that a dial gauge and spoke torque wrench make wheel truing much easier but those can be hefty investments for something you only do twice.

Dial gauge I have... in my "at work" tool chest. It's a clamp on style with the multi-joint snake extension that can be locked in any position. Quite handy.
No spoke torque wrench but sound is also a measure of tension. I go by sound. Of course, some will be under more tension until the wheel settles in. It will end up being tuned up a few times more after the bike is a runner. Maybe by then I'll have invested in a spoke torque wrench.

I'll have to bring my dial gauge home and try it. I like the idea.  ;) Thanks.

I'm bummed my work computer blocks youtube.  I'm intrigued by the new direction of a scrambler, since it was not a CL to begin with.  Trackers are increasingly popular -- the new café if you will.  Are you going to track down a shotgun exhaust or have one fabricated for the build??

Great video, Dino. Note: your front wheel is mounted on the opposite side. The speedo drive should be on the right side.

How about a tracker instead of a scrambler?

I like the brat/tracker thing but those flat seats weird me out. Just seems like a good way to slide off. I love the exhaust designs though.

I notched the cylinder skirts this week. The rods have plenty of clearance now thanks to a Bridgeport milling machine and a Dremel.

The final notch ended up at 8 mm depth and 28 mm width.

I would clamp the cylinder to table with vise removed.. Far more rigid..the sleeves are fairly easy to break. And use your spacers that were in the vise to hold the cylinders on. When checking the fit.

Dino, you should hit up member Godffrey here. His rotors are second to none for quality work. If you run dual disk his rotors will equal one in total weight. Honestly that would really make the bike pop.

I have Goddfrey's twin disc set-up on my 550K.  It is a Big improvement over stock.  That said, the GL1000 front (including brakes) on my 750 is much, much better.

I spent the better part of the day inspecting the chains and editing this week's video for Hack A Week. The primary drive chain is OK, and the camshaft chain seems to be brand new!
